Some Christmas gifts I've recieved! (Thanks everyone!)

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I hope you all are having a wonderful Christmas and that everyone is getting the time out they deserve!  A good rest and fattening up before the year 2010 is about to commence was definitely needed (ok, not the fattening up, could techniqually do without it)!

As I am every year and have been all throughout my life, I've been a very blessed and lucky girl to recieve wonderful presents this Christmas!  Unfortunately I havent documented everything on camera but I've taken photos of somethings I think that might tickle your interests!  I wanted to show you guys some things I think are particuarly relevant to you and I (so mostly cosmetics!).

This year's MAC goodies consist of: Posey Creme blush, Ruby woo lipstick, eyeshadows pro refills in Rice Paper and Cranberry!!!!  Gosh, I love MAC. I know it's such a cliche but...MAC is seriously one of the best!

My bestie bought my perfume from AVON; this is Aromadisiac for Her.  It's a particularly warm, sweet scent with features jasmine, african orange flower and amber and pink pepper.  It's ever so slightly musky but mostly a 'smooth', sweet smell.  Mmm!

Bestie a la Uni (teehee) bought me this gorgeous cuff bangle bracelet ^_^  I absolutely adore it.  I love simple detail and I am particularly into clean colours with gold, pearls and peaches.  This will brighten up lots of my outfits!

Actually bought by a male friend (would you believe!), a seriously adorable kitty stand!  At first I didn't quite know what to do with it; I was born to use practical boxes (hence the 'useful boxes' all over my desk) but I've been trying to change my style to not necessarily always use practical things and start adding small simple details and ideas even in storage.   So I decided to put my 'perfume of the week/month' on the top shelve and a trusty favourite accessory/thing at the bottom.  I don't know why this comes to me as some sort of revelation but I love the idea of simplisitic spacing and designs... with a splash of CUTE!  Love!

Bestie a la uni again bought my this eyeliner from ASOS and at first it seems to be just a plum coloured eyeliner.  Behold...

An eyeliner with a hard cutting edge rectangular shape!  if I were in maths class I would call it... a ... 3D parallelogram...sure there is a name for that.  But it's designed to achieve the perfect,. bold cat eye.

You can achieve many shapes and lines with this so I am excited to do some experimening.

She also got me some face packs from Korea and although with minimal english on them, I shall figure out what they are for and how to use it.  I love face masks, possibly one of the best treats when feeling really run down!

ELF mineral lipstick!  These are lusciously hydrating and smooth to apply.  The packaging is also similar to BarryM's but the forumla seems much nicer.  This is in Nicely Nude and really it is a very flesh toned pink.  Perfect for when spring comes along!

My sister got me the 23 Piece professional make up brush set from Crown Brushes :)  Oh I LOVE these!  These brushes are of excellent quality and now I have many many brushes to do practice with.  This set features lots of small fine brushes; perfect for tiny details around the eyes.  The hairs on these are soft and have good resistence.  Thanks sis!!!

This is how I've decided to store them for now.  This beautiful swan 'pot' was from bestie a la uni as well and it was her who gave me the idea for brushes.  I might fill it up with beads later to stand up the brushes :)

Last year I missed out on the Front Cover gift sets and this year my sister in law bought this for me!  It's their Love at First Sight kit and you can do so many things with this set.  I'm not a fan at the packaging for Front Cover but their shadows are lovely and even the eyeliners that their kits come with are decent!  I'm looking forward to creating some dramatic looks with this.

That's it for now!  I just wanted to quickly show you...I tidied my vanity table.  I'm not going to lie; I'm a very messy person.  I cant keep things clean and tidy....I blame it on my artistic nature >-

Have a lovely Christmas holiday everyone and i Hope you guys are are ready for the new year!!  Stay safe and be merry!

Christmas thoughts

It's not long until Christmas, what is everyone going to be doing?

I hope we all spare some time to forget about presents, about food and about not going to work for the holidays.  I hope we have time to think about how lucky we are, how our general necessities are actually a luxury we take for granted and that this Christmas a lot of people will be lonely, hungry and away from home.  Let's spend some time to say our thanks for our blessings and truly, madly, deeply tell everyone how much they mean to you.

Peace x

Lessons of 2009 Contest

The time has finally come and I am holding a contest, no doubt a lot of you will have seen the youtube video and that is why you're here to check up on the terms and conditions like I urged you to. So thank you for doing so!

Theme: Lessons of 2009 Contest

The theme of this contest is to do with 'what you have learned this 2009'.  So I want us all to reflect on this year and pass on what you have learned, how it happened and how it will not benefit you and the others around you.
There are two ways to enter; you can either film a video or you can enter a comment for the corresponding video. You are allowed to do both comment and video.

Video: So if you learned a new skill, show how you did it and if you learned a life lesson then be creative and demonstrate that.  Any goes aslong as it's appropriate and fits in with the theme.

So for example if you learned not to lose your temper, in a creative fashion you could do some acting or show things that would usually make you angry and demonstrate how you keep your cool.  Be creative.  Or if you learned that life is short this year, give us some creative example and show us what you’re going to do from now on and how.  You will be judged on creativity, originality and impact.  Please make sure the videos are no longer than 5 minutes!  Only one video per person please.

Video example:
  • I learned how to laugh at myself and not take life too seriously
  • I learned how to bake a victoria sponge

Prizes for videos include:

1.       2 montagne jeunesse face masks
2.       1 eyeko cleansing wipe
3.       Ted baker master kit
4.       L’oreal lash architect (water proof)
5.       Gosh liner in banana
6.       Three barrym nail paints (Mint green, bright purple, pink flamingo)
7.       Maybelline blush in Rose
8.       Asos Cherry pendant

Comments: In the comments entries please write a couple of sentences on what you have learned.  It's pretty straight forward but the aim is to try and make an impact on those who read it and be able to spread what you have learned so others can benefit.  You will be judged on impact and content.  Only one comment per person please

Comment Example:
  • I learned how to have more patience with my boyfriend/girlfriend.  This happened because our relationship was breaking and it made me realise that if it were to get better I would have to be a bigger person.  We now compromise and our relationship is so much better.  I've learned that a little patience goes a long way.

Prizes for comment entries include:
1.       2x montagne jeunesse masks
2.       Eyeko cleansing wipe
3.       Ted baker kit four
4.       Maybelline great lash mascara
5.       Three sally girl nail polishes
6.       Mememe beat the blues
7.       2true black liner

  • Start time begins on the 13th December GMT to the moment it hits 25th December 2009 GMT. Therefore do not post on the 25th, it won't be counted and make sure you check out the time difference if you're in a different country other than the UK.

So if you still have question please ask me in the comments!  Thank you and please enter!  I would be especially be pleased if you

Netbook, Bobbi Brown Makeup manual and Ebay Palettes

Hi everyone
Since the last time I blogged there has been a few things that have happened.  I'm so busy I'm surrounded by post-it notes and they're all beginning to blur into each other.  I have no idea what I'm doing.  Nonetheless....I have a haul for you.

For of all I'm writing for the first time from my new netbook!  I got it (him) for my 21st birthday which was on the 9th of December 2009!  Yep, I'm 21 now and in case you're curious, I had a fabulous birthday.  The netbook is a beautiful glossy black 10" machine bur despite it all I can't tell you much else about it.  I am incredibly dense when it comes to technology and what not, I just know how to use some things but I love him.  Him and I still need to get used to one another before I can give him a name but considering I'll be bringing him everywhere I go (almost) then I'm sure we'll be acquainted in no time.

I'm not going to put up much of the birthday presents I got but I wanted to show you something in particular.  My bestie from university, Vicky, bought my the Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual which I have been longing for for a while now.  I've got to that stage where I'm taking make up and fashion more seriously and to a higher level now and I'm thinking of moving my career to that path so \I think books written by some of the greatest is a good start to get some ideas. The book is highly recommendable and I havent finished a book so quickly,  Nonetheless - it's a fantastic book.  The pictures, diagrams and generous amount of information is worth every penny.

Lastly I wanted to talk about some palettes I've finallty bitten the bullet and plucked up the courage to buy.  I went and go those 'ebay' palette.  I've so far purchased the 120 pro palette but that has not arrived.  I ordered the 28 natural nude palette which arrived safe and sound, however I ordered the matte contour palette from the same seller and they sent me a 66 lip palette by mistake.  Lucky me was allowed to keep both palettes and am being sent the contour as I type.  So I'm waiting on the 120 palette.

I have not swatched them all but the colours seem of perfectly decent quality. Are they as vivid and good quality as the likes of leading brands such as MAC or NARS?  Not quite there but they are very very decent.  So if say MAC eyeshadows had a 10 as a mark then I would give these a good solid 9.

The funny thing about this is that I never intended on getting a lip palette and actually I've never thought about getting one.  I've not been so keen because I just don't understand why you would bother.  To me lipstick is the one thing you have to touch up the most and if you only have that colour from th palette then you can't touch unless you're seriously considering putting a 66 lip palette into your handbag.  But for tutorials this will be perfect and the quality isn't half bad.  Pleasantly pleased.

Also I went to Staples and picked up a documents rack to see if they would hold up my palettes.  Actually it's not quite good enough to be honest and when it comes down to it, I might end up with more MAC palettes and then I really won't have space.  I've been looking for a small-ish DVD tower but can't find one.  Oh bother.

Well thats it for now but look out for the next couple of posts because I'm due to do a natural look, a christmas look, announcing my first contest and also a suprise change to my image!!!!!

Peace x
