Obey VS 147

Hey all just a quick post before I go for my beauty sleep…

Can you see much difference between these two lipsticks?  Yes the left is ever so slightly muted and the right is possibly brighter or dare I say, pinker?

The left actually is Illamasqua’s ‘Obey’ which retails about £15.00 and the right is BarryM’s Lip Paint in 147.  Now buying Obey almost came as an accident when I was basically coaxed into buying it by the ever so slightly pushy sales person at IMATS and so when I came back with it I couldn’t help notice the resemblance between the two. 

Having used the Illamasqua ‘Obey’ now I can say the colours are pretty similar and if you’re looking for a peachy rose pink then this is probably the one for you, if you prefer a ‘pinker’ version you might want to try BarryM. 

But here is the deal; I find BarryM Lip Paints ever so slightly drying and not particularly pleasant to apply.  My favourite brands of lipsticks are the likes of Estee Lauder, Maybelline or even MAC which are all quick to apply without much ‘gapping’ (sorry for the dodgy term I’m using).  When applying BarryM the application isn’t what I’d call sheer…I’d call it uneven.  What’s more is that it dries out my lips unless I put lip balm on top and underneath.  So Obey has served me well actually as it’s much more of a solid colour pay off and less drying. 

However it will burn £15.00 out of your bank account.  So what do you think?  Do you like BarryM Lip Paints?  Or like me, would you rather spend more money on something as important as a good lipstick?  I mean I don’t know about the rest of you but you can have the nicest colour or shade worn on the lips but if the quality is second rate then it spoils the entire purpose, right?

So here are a comparison swatch.  I overall prefer Obey in terms of colour as well, I think it’s easier to wear as it’s less sharp but if I’m going for a brighter pop of colour I may just opt for the 147.
